Dear 2026 LDG Canavaleros!

Thank you so much for a fantastic and energetic rehearsal this past weekend!  Our Registration is now closed and we have an amazing group of joyful dancers that will light up the streets of San Francisco on Carnaval Sunday May 24, 2026!!!

Last Sunday, we unveiled our costumes and color palette and we will bring them again this weekend for anyone who was absent. I brought different sizes so you could get a feel for what sizing might work for you.

We are working to spice up the Men's/Unisex Costume and will display a sample this Sunday.  Those will be ordered separately - we are open to feedback from the gentlemen so please send us ideas if you have any :-)

This year, our goal is to divide the Contingent into 5 sections to display each of the vibrant colors.  Several of you already know who you would like to dance with so please connect with them to submit your color preferences together and we will work to give everyone their preferred choice :-)

***UPDATE as of 3/18/26:  FUSCHIA AND TURQUOISE SECTIONS ARE FULL SO PLEASE SELECT ANOTHER COLOR. THANK YOU!!!***

Here's how we will begin organizing the costume orders:

Please fill out this 2026 LDG Carnaval Costume Survey to let us know your first and second choice Costume Color preference, and your preferred style option.

  • The survey has a Sizing chart to determine your Size for the top, the pants, or the one piece option.

  • Please take note of the Sizes Available that are indicated with each option.  The One Piece Short Style is available in Small through XXL; the rest of the costumes are available in XS to XL.  If your color preference needs minor alterations, we can work with our seamstress to help :-)

Please submit your completed survey to us by 5pm Wednesday 3/25 (no payment is needed at this time).  Once we receive all the surveys, we'll start working on this and respond to your requests by Sunday 3/29.

Once we have worked with you to confirm the sections - we will let you know the price and due date for the costume payment.  (Prices are on the survey for your reference.)  And, finally, we will submit our order so you have your costumes by the end of April.

Headpiece

The headpiece frame is $15 and will be distributed with the costumes, along with ideas for embellishment and instructions on how to decorate.  Thank you so much to Tina Milo for working with me to coordinate the making of these frames with artist Dayana from luxdanceaccesorios in Colombia and then bringing them home all the way from Colombia!

And thank you to Tina and Monika for helping with the sample.  We have many creatives in our group so this will be a fun activity you can do together with your section members.  We love to see how you create your own unique versions of the headpieces based on our color scheme.

Last but not least, Dudley and I are working on our first Follow-Along Tutorial video this week and will send it to you so you can practice at home :-).

Thank you so much everyone for your wonderful energy as we journey together towards Carnaval day!!!  Please take the time to meet someone new and help each other out ~ for me, that is always the most rewarding part of this experience.  We never know what fascinating, intelligent and talented people we are dancing with until we talk to one another in person.

I did my best to make the costume selection clear, but as always, please do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or you need any help.  Have a wonderful week everybody!

with love and gratitude,

Elizabeth and Dudley
